If we, the Church or Christ followers, could master how to say things, how to treat others, how to live out our Christian worldview, our impact on the world around us would increase exponentially. I’ve often said, “approach trumps content every time.” How many times have you found that to be true? You deal with a really difficult issue, but approach the person the right way and it goes surprisingly well…or, the littlest of issues blows up because we handle it all wrong.
See, God’s word spends a whole lot of time telling us HOW to do things, how to conduct ourselves and really not so much on the what. Sure, the Bible gives us standards for living, ethical boundaries, and reveals God’s standards for man…yet, we see Jesus teaching the essentials of life through the HOW of our actions. Take the fruits of the spirit, love, joy, peace, humbleness, and a whole lot more. A bunch of world religions deal with conduct and behavior, but only one, only one, deals with the heart, the how, the motive, the spirit filled HOW of our interaction with the world.
So, as issues against our Christian worldviews continue to increase, let us not forget the very uniqueness of our relationship with God through Jesus. We are different, because of HOW we act, how we treat people, how we interact with God. Let’s make sure we pray daily for the Holy Spirit to give us strength to live out the HOW of our Christian walk, far more than anything else!
